American passenger unit revenues up 4% in July

American Airlines reports that passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) rose about 4% in July compared to a year earlier.

Consolidated traffic was up 2.5% on a 2.6% increase in capacity, resulting in a 0.1 percentage point decrease in load factor to 86.9%.

Domestic traffic increased by 0.3% on a 0.2% decrease in capacity, with a 0.5 percentage point increase in load factor to 88.7%.

International traffic rose 5.4% while capacity rose 6.2%, resulting in a 0.7 percentage point decrease in load factor to 86.4%.
