American Airlines generated a $135 million profit including reorganisation costs in July.
The Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier reports operating revenues of $2.3 billion on operating expenses of $2.1 billion during July, according to a stock exchange filing today. Net profit totals $189 million,
Reorganisation expenses were $54 million during the month.
American had $4.8 billion in cash and short-term investments on its books at the end of July, which was down 3.6% from $4.98 billion at the end of June. It had $6.63 billion in long-term debt and capital leases at the end of the month, which was down 1.3% from $6.7 billion in June.
The airline is operating under chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
