American PRASM up 4.7% in February

American Airlines reports that passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) rose 4.7% in February compared to a year earlier.

Consolidated load factor was up 2.6 percentage points to 77.9%, on a 1.1% fall in traffic and a 4.4% decline in capacity.

Domestic traffic decreased by 1.3% on a 5% fall in capacity, with a three percentage point increase in load factor to 81.2%.

International traffic fell 0.8% while capacity fell by 3.8%, resulting in 2.2 percentage point increase in load factor to 74.6%.

February had one less day than in 2012 due to leap year.
