American Airlines-parent AMR has requested that the deadline for it to file a restructuring plan with the bankruptcy court be extended to 11 March 2013.
Joined by its unsecured creditors committee, the Fort Worth-based carrier cites the size and complexity of its restructuring for the request, in a court filing today.
The March date is in line with previous analyst expectations of when the airline would emerge from bankruptcy.
American has the exclusive right to file a restructuring plan with the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York until the deadline, after which other parties may file proposals.
The deadline for American to file a plan is 28 January 2013, which has been extended three times since it filed for chapter 11 protection in November 2011.
