American Airlines will begin flights to Columbia, Missouri, in February.

The Fort Worth-based Oneworld carrier will operate flights under the American Eagle brand to its hubs at Chicago O'Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth, according to the city.

American says that it is in talks with Columbia but will not comment on any details.

The Columbia city council will vote on an air service agreement with American, which includes some form of loss prevention guarantee for the airline, today.

American flew to Columbia from its former hub in St. Louis until 2006.

Columbia has flights on Delta Air Lines to Atlanta and Frontier Airlines will begin flights to Orlando in November.
