American to end Dallas-Hermosillo service

American Airlines will end its flight between Dallas/Fort Worth International airport and Hermosillo, Mexico, on 5 March.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based Oneworld carrier will continue to serve Hermosillo with a once daily flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport operated by its US Airways subsidiary.

A 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 operates the Dallas/Fort Worth flight and a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 the Phoenix, Innovata schedules show.

Republic Airlines disclosed on 11 February that it would remove 15 ERJ-140s that it flies for American by 15 August. The reduction is understood to be in addition to the 25 of the type that American's regional subsidiary Envoy planned to remove in 2014.

American applied for authority to codeshare on all US Airways flights to Mexico with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) on 6 February.

No other airlines fly between Dallas/Fort Worth and Hermosillo, according to Innovata.
