American Airlines will launch new nonstop services from its hubs at Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami to California and Mexico from 12 June.

The Fort Worth-based carrier will begin daily service between Miami and San Diego using a 150-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. With the addition of the route, American and American Eagle will have 25 daily flights to each of its five hubs from the southern California airport.

The flight fills a gap in air service from San Diego. Hampton Brown, director of air service development at San Diego airport, told Flightglobal in December that a flight to south Florida was at the top of its list for new service.

American will begin daily flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and Hermosillo, and three-times weekly service between Dallas and Zacatecas, pending government approval. American Eagle will operate the routes with Embraer ERJ-140 aircraft.

According to Innovata schedules, American will be the only airline on all three routes.
