American unit revenues down 1.8% in May

American Airlines' passenger unit revenue fell by 1.8% in May compared to a year earlier, as demand remained soft in the USA.

Consolidated traffic increased 0.8% on a 0.3% increase in capacity during the month. The load factor fell 0.4 percentage points to 84%.

Domestic traffic fell 2.1% on a 2.9% decrease in capacity, which resulted in a 0.7 point increase in load factor to 86.1%.

International traffic rose 5.2% on a 4.5% increase in capacity. The load factor rose 0.6 points to 82.6%.
