In addition to its large order for narrowbody aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, American Airlines has also increased its commitments for Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

American parent AMR Corporation reported today that American now has eight of the type scheduled to be delivered in 2012 and 2013, which includes three options that it has recently exercised.

American had originally announced an order for two 777-300ERs in January of this year, and increased the order to five in April.

The Dallas-based carrier also has seven 777-200ERs, scheduled to be delivered from 2013 through 2016, according to a recent regulatory filing.
