American Airlines and US Airways will announce the merged carrier's new management team by "early June", say executives.
Doug Parker, chairman and chief executive of US Airways and future CEO of American, and Tom Horton, chairman and CEO of American and future chairman of American, say that the team will be announced either later this month or in early June, in a letter to employees on 6 May.
The carriers are in the first stage - planning - of five in its merger integration process. Later phases include post-close immediately after it receives US Department of Justice antitrust approval, the first six months, functional integration and post-single operating certificate.
Bev Goulet, senior vice-president and chief integration officer at American, and Robert Isom, chief operating officer at US Airways and joint leader of the merger integration officer with Goulet, are driving the merger planning process.
