AMR posts $142m loss in April

American Airlines parent AMR Corp reported a $142 million net loss on mostly bankruptcy related charges in April.

The airline generated $2.04 billion in revenue on $2.06 billion in expenses, not including bankruptcy related expenditures, during the month, according to a stock exchange filing. It posted an operating loss of $15 million.

Cash and cash equivalents were $4.8 billion at the end of the month, on par with a month earlier.

There were no changes in the aircraft and engine leases or financing agreements at American or its regional subsidiary American Eagle during April.
