AMR reports record August unit revenues

AMR Corporation reports that passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) at its American Airlines and AMR Eagle subsidiaries climbed 3% year-over-year to 13.77 cents in August, a record for the company in August.

Dallas-based AMR also reports that its consolidated passenger traffic rose 3.2% in August, with traffic climbing 3.2% at American Airlines and 2.6% at AMR Eagle.

Systemwide capacity in August increased 4.2% from the same period last year. Capacity at American Airlines increased 4.4%, while capacity at AMR's regional carrier climbed 2.2%.

The company's consolidated load factor for the month was 85%, down 0.8 percentage points from the same period last year.

AMR carried 9.7 million passengers during the month, up 1.8% year-over-year.
