All Nippon Airways' domestic pilots have withdrawn their threat of strike action but still want ANA group to be involved in talks.

Pilots from four of ANA's domestic pilots' unions threatened to go on a 24hr strike as of midnight last night but an ANA spokeswoman says the pilots cancelled the strike.

"We have not been told by them of there being any future strikes," she adds.

The pilots work for ANA's domestic subsidiary airlines: Air Nippon, Air Nippon Network, Air Next and Air Central.

They are in talks with the respective subsidiaries but want ANA group to also participate in the talks because one of the issues on the agenda is how pilots at these smaller carriers can transition to larger aircraft and work for ANA mainline, says the spokeswoman.

Japanese pilots' unions typically give notice of strike action several times per year as they negotiate bonuses, wages and other issues with management.
