All Nippon Airways (ANA) will double the frequency of flights between Tokyo's Narita and New York's John F Kennedy airport from 28 October.

The carrier will boost its Tokyo-New York service from seven to 14 flights a week, using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The increase in flights to New York reflects ANA's strategy to accelerate the expansion of its international network, which is a key pillar of its FY2012/13 corporate strategy, says ANA.

This follows ANA's recent announcement that it will launch two international routes between Tokyo's Narita airport and Yangon, Myanmar, from 15 October, and between Narita and Delhi, India, on 28 October.
