Japan's All Nippon Airways (ANA) is considering starting a new low-cost carrier.
The carrier is studying low-cost carriers abroad and studying if "these can be applied in Japan", says an ANA spokeswoman.
Local media reports say ANA plans to base the new airline out of Osaka Kansai International Airport, and that the new carrier will operate domestic and international flights.
However, ANA's spokeswoman says no firm decision has been made yet.
ANA said in April it will merge its low-cost subsidiary Air Japan with cargo carrier ANA & JP Express from 1 July.
