Air New Zealand (ANZ) will launch a daily service between Auckland and Kapiti Coast airport (Paraparaumu) from 25 October.

The service will be operated using Bombardier Q300 aircraft, said the carrier.

Air Nelson, ANZ's subsidiary, flew its first flight to Paraparaumu on 2 August, following the completion of a $3 million upgrade of the airport's runway, the airline added.

Grant Kerr, general manager of Air Nelson, said: "The proving flight marks a significant step to the launch of the new daily service, which will link the Kapiti Coast to Auckland with 18 return flights a week."
