Boeing has awarded Air New Zealand's (ANZ) aircraft interiors business Altitude a five-year contract to provide customised drink cabinets, stowage units and closets for first class cabins for 20 Boeing 747-8s.

Altitude made the announcement in a statement today that makes no mention of the airline customer.

But Lufthansa is the only airline to order the 747-8 with 20 on firm order and 20 options.

The New Zealand firm says the 20 747-8s are to be delivered to the customer between 2010 and 2013.

Altitude says it is the first southern hemisphere aircraft interiors business to be European-approved to design aircraft interiors and to certify aircraft interiors.

ANZ owns Altitude but it a separate stand-alone business.
