Apollo and Citi buy 14 737s

Hemisphere Aircraft Leasing has sold a total of 14 Boeing 737-300 aircraft (24935, 24936, 23828, 23829, 24098, 24377, 25239, 23797, 23798, 24684, 24869, 25210, 26857, 26856) with CFM56-3B2 engines to a partnership controlled by Citi Markets & Banking with Apollo Aviation Group. JetWorks Leasing have acted as the lease manager for Hemisphere and arranged the sale of the aircraft. All 14 aircraft are on lease to VRG Linhas Aereas (Varig).

Each lease has a different tenor but mainly are short term. Sources said that these 1988-92 vintage aircraft could be subject to a forward lease or converted in freight aircraft.

According to ACAS, serial numbers 24935 and 24936 are 1990-vintage aircraft with CFM56-3B2 engines from Mitsui with leases attached through December 2007.

MSN 23828 and 23829 are 1987-vintage aircraft with CFM56-3B2 engines from AWAS. MSN 24098 and 24377 are 1989-vintage aircraft with CFM56-3B2 engines.

MSN 23797, 23798 24864, 24869, 25239, 26856 and 26857 are 1987/90/91/92 vintage aircraft with CFM56-3B2 engines from Bavaria International Aircraft Leasing.

MSN 25210 is a 1991 vintage aircraft with CFM56-3B2 engines from Bavaria International Aircraft Leasing on lease through February 2008.
