An Arianespace Ariane 5 has successfully launched two satellites into geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) on 15 May from its Kourou, French Guiana launch site.

JCSAT 13, built by Lockheed Martin, was launched for a Japanese company, and will provide direct broadcasting services from a position overhead Asia and the Middle East.

VINASAT 2 is the second commercial communications satellite for the Vietnamese government.

Both satellites will transmit in Ku band.

The flight marks Ariane's 62nd launch, according to Flightglobal/Ascend's database. The next launch is scheduled for 19 June, according to Arianespace, when Ariane will launch two communications satellites to GTO.
