US aircraft interiors specialist Associated Air Center has developed a full-scale airframe mock-up centre for Boeing Business Jets (BBJ).
The facility will be used for creating and testing new designs, fabrications and systems on the aircraft. It will reduce aircraft downtime by starting key elements of the completion process before the customer's aircraft arrives at the facility, said the company.
Troy Jonas, the company's vice-president and general manager, said: "The re-engineering of the mock-up facility provides substantial improvement in our quality outcomes and is expected to significantly improve our turn times, reducing aircraft downtime by as much as 10%."
The tool supports the Boeing 737 Next Generation family of aircraft. Associated Air Center will continue to support designs on the Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) series of aircraft, and will develop a similar capability for this family, it said.
