Alliant TechSystems (ATK) has extended a three-year-old contract to supply composite stringers and frames for the fuselage of the Airbus A350 XWB until 2027.
The Arlington, Virginia-based aerospace supplier says the new agreement adds potentially up to 800 more ship-sets of production over the original contract. The new deal also adds scope for design changes and manufacturing operations, ATK says.
Airbus selected ATK in 2009 for a contract worth up to $1 billion to produce composite structures for the new twin-aisle.
ATK opened an "aircraft commercial centre of excellence" in Clearfield, Utah, to support the A350 work, using a proprietary technology called an automated stiffener forming machine.
