Feroe Island-based Atlantic Airways is expected to complete the phase out of its BAE Systems Avro RJ85 fleet later this month, after the carrier received an Airbus A319 under an operating lease agreement.

The 2009-vintage A319 (MSN 3905) is leased from operating lessor SMBC Aviation Capital. It was previously operated by Olympic Air.

Atlantic Airways said earlier this year it was “widening its scope for 2013 with increased A319 capacity” as its charter activity grows.

It took an A319 from Air Malta under a sublease basis to replace an Avro RJ85 aircraft in May.

By the end of October, Atlantic Airways will operates three A319s along with one BAE Systems Avro RJ100 aircraft.
