Regional airframer ATR achieved 84 net orders in the first half of 2011, according to figures disclosed by EADS in its half-year results.

The manufacturer delivered 17 aircraft in the six-month period compared with 27 in the same half of 2010.

EADS gives the backlog figure for ATR as 226 aircraft.

Chief financial officer Hans-Peter Ring said the performance "confirmed the success of the upgraded product range", referring to the ATR -600 series turboprop.

ATR, having secured 60 orders at the Paris air show, put its 2011 order total at 88 aircraft in mid-June, with a backlog of 233.
