Regional airframer ATR secured gross orders for 68 turboprops in the first half of the year, shareholder EADS has disclosed in its interim financial results.

The figure is a strong increase on the figure of 11 recorded in the same period last year.

ATR is 50%-owned by EADS, which has reclassified the turboprop manufacturer under its Airbus Commercial division.

During the Paris air show in June, ATR revealed large orders from customers including Brazilian carrier Passaredo and lessor Nordic Aviation Capital.
