Auckland airport's international passenger numbers, excluding transits, increased by 3.8% year on year to 608,000 in February.
However, if an adjustment is made for the extra day in last year's leap year, the increase is 7.5%.
This was driven by strong Chinese New Year traffic on Asian routes, as well as continued year-on-year growth on Australian routes.
Visitor arrivals from China increased by 94% year on year, while visitors from Japan grew by 30%, says the airport.
International passenger numbers, including transits, grew by 1.4% to 634,000, and domestic passenger numbers also rose by 6.1% to 547,000.
Total aircraft movements at the airport fell by 3.8% to 12,300. International aircraft movements declined by 5% to 3,410, and domestic aircraft movements went down by 3.4% to 8,870.
