Tiger Airways' Australian outfit has added its seventh Airbus A320-family aircraft and used it to add frequency.

The carrier says yesterday it increased its Adelaide-Sydney service to double-daily from daily and it increased its Melbourne-Sydney service to nine times daily from four times daily.

It says the seventh A320-family aircraft is stationed in Melbourne, increasing its Melbourne fleet to five while it has two in Adelaide.

The carrier says it is important to add services on the Melbourne-Sydney route because it is one of the busiest routes in the world.

Tiger Australia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore's Tiger Airways and the Australian outfit competes domestically against Jetstar, Qantas Airways and Virgin Blue.
