Lockheed Martin (booth 1657) has unveiled a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned vehicle for extended hover and perch-and-stare operations. Called the Procerus quad rotor, the man-packable system has a 40min flight time and includes an electro-optical and infrared sensors and a laser illuminator for 360-degree panning capability.
Along with an autopilot, the Procerus includes a wireless hand controller for untethered vehicle operations and can also be operated via a full ground control station. The ground station features Virtual Cockpit v3.0, with 3-D map interface, mission planning tools, in-flight retasking and full waypoint navigation.
Lockheed Martin says the Procerus "can land and gather surveillance data from a remote location and then take off and return home".
