Baltic Ground Services is planning to significantly grow its Polish business with the appointment of a new chief executive for the unit.
The Lithuanian ground handler – which is a subsidiary of Vilnius-based Avia Solutions Group – has promoted its chief production manager, Linas Geguzis, to head the Polish division.
The aim is to increase the number of flights being served by 40% to around 2,500 in 2014, he says.
The target has been set after the Polish division slashed its operational costs by a third in 2012 through trimming staff and streamlining internal processes.
Baltic Ground Services Poland – which employs nearly 60% of the ground handling provider’s 220-strong workforce – was established in 2010. It operates at Warsaw, Katowice and Krakow airports.
