Russian low-cost carrier Avianova in June will launch its first international route, from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Simferopol in Ukraine.
The carrier received permission to operate the route, together with services to Belarussian capital Minsk and several southern European charter destinations, last month.
From 15 June Avianova will operate an Airbus A320 four times a week to Simferopol in Ukraine's Crimea region, home to popular Black Sea holiday resorts.
Avianova chief executive Andrew Pyne is confident the route will be popular, noting that high air fares on the route have forced tourists on to the rail system. The distance from Moscow has meant that tourists have traditionally lost two days of their holiday travelling by train to and from the Crimea.
