US lessor Aviation Capital Group has selected Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines to power the five Boeing 787 aircraft it has on order.

The lessor disclosed the 787 order in April 2007. Aviation Capital Group says that it has selected the -8 variant.

Rolls-Royce values the engine agreement at $170 million.

Aviation Capital Group chief Stephen Hannahs says the Trent 1000 has an "excellent combination of operating and ownership economics".

Its agreement comes a day after Boeing carried out the first flight of the 787.
