New operating lessor Avolon has acquired two Airbus A320 aircraft from Air Berlin under a sale and lease-back structure. The aircraft will continue to be operated by Swiss-based carrier Belair, a subsidiary airline of Air Berlin.

According to Avolon: "A number of other transactions are at an advanced stage of discussions with airlines globally." Its committed fleet now stands at over thirty aircraft comprising Airbus A320s, Boeing 737s and Airbus A330s.

The Irish-based, which was launched in May, has successfully completed its initial capital fundraising of $1.4 billion including an equity commitment of $750 million from Cinven, CVC Capital Partners and Oak Hill Capital Partners.
