AWAS has financed a new Airbus A320 narrowbody with a limited-recourse commercial debt facility from two Japanese lessors.

Flightglobal's Ascend Online database identifies one of the two entities as BOT Lease.

The jet (MSN 5742) is the first of three new A320s leased to privately owned Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJet, which is seeking to expand into Southeast and North Asian networks. Ascend Online lists the other two A320s as scheduled for October 2013 and January 2014.

US lessor AWAS says VietJet's network plans include regional destinations such as Busan, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Singapore and Taipei, as well as mainland China, Hong Kong and Japan.

The Vietnamese carrier has eight A320s in its fleet: five on lease from Alafco, two from GECAS and one from CIT Aerospace, Ascend Online shows.
