KLM Cityhopper is to sell 15 Fokker 100s to the Azerbaijani company Evsen Group, following the Dutch regional carrier's renewal of its fleet with Embraer jets.

Evsen Group oversees a diverse group of nine companies with interests in consumer electronics, hotel operations and taxi services.

Terms of the sale, assisted by asset management specialist Focus Aviation, have not been disclosed.

Evsen Group recently bid for the French wet-lease operation Eagle Aviation.

Details of its plans for the Fokker fleet are yet to emerge but Focus Aviation says the company intends to use them for short-haul services in the Middle East region.

Cityhopper's Fokker fleet is between 14 and 20 years old.
