Brazil's Azul has acquired another Airbus A330-200 on top of the six it had previously announced it would lease.
The seventh A330-200 is being purchased from lessor BBAM, Azul chief executive David Neeleman tells Flightglobal. The aircraft was formerly operated by Emirates.
Azul announced in April that it would acquire Airbus jets to launch inaugural international service to the USA. Besides the seven A330s, Azul will also acquire five A350-900s.
Flightglobal's Ascend database shows that the A330 to be purchased from BBAM was first delivered in 2002. It had accumulated almost 43,400 hours and more than 12,500 cycles as of 30 November 2013.
