British Airways subsidiary BA CityFlyer has firmed up options on two additional Embraer 190 aircraft, and will launch service from London City to Stockholm Arlanda early next year.
BA CityFlyer has taken delivery of the six Embraer 170s and five 98-seat E-190s it ordered in December 2008 to replace its fleet of BAE Systems Avro RJs.
The carrier will take delivery of the two additional E-190s next spring. It has one remaining E-190 option to convert.
The airline will launch twice-daily flights from London City to Stockholm Arlanda in January, and will announce further new services from the airport "in the coming months".
BA CityFlyer managing director Peter Simpson says the conversion of the two E-190 options "will increase our fleet size by almost 20% at London City Airport".
He adds: "The successful fleet introduction and customer reaction to the E-Jets has given us the confidence to expand so soon after the initial order."
