British Airways is to suspended the former BMI service between London Heathrow and Tehran from 13 October.

The carrier says market conditions and "the complexity of that specific route" have led to its suspension.

"The route is going to be under review, we are not saying we are never going back," it says, "but it is not viable at this current time."

Due to a dispute with the authorities in Iran, flights were forced to refuel in Yerevan, Armenia, adding additional complexity to the service.
