British Airways will increase its fuel surcharge on long-haul services from 8 February, although it is not intending to raise the levy on short-haul flights.

Its economy and premium-economy cabins will bear a £12 ($19) rise per sector while its first- and business-class fares will go up by £17.

"The move reflects the continuing substantial increase in the price of oil and a 14% rise in the spot price of jet fuel since our last fuel surcharge increase in December 2010," says the Oneworld carrier.
