British Airways has assigned line maintenance for its new Airbus A318 aircraft to Ireland's Shannon Aerospace.

The agreement covers extended twin-engined operations (ETOPS) checks on the aircraft, which will be used to conduct BA's new all-business services from London City to New York.

Shannon Aerospace says it will perform 11 checks per week. The flights, which will make a stop at Shannon en route, are expected to begin during the fourth quarter of the year.
