Passengers using British Airways or Iberia will be able to collect the same rewards points from November when both airlines adopt Avios points, the rebranded Airmiles scheme, as the "shared reward currency" for IAG companies.

"One Avios will have exactly the same value as one BA mile and all BA miles will be automatically converted to Avios on 16 November 2011. For Airmiles customers, each and every Airmile becomes 10 Avios," said BA.

The two airlines have divided the world into nine zones "so customers know exactly how many Avios points they need for a destination".

BA and Iberia will retain their existing Executive Club and Iberia Plus loyalty programmes.
