British Airways has contracted Airbus to provide component support for its ordered A380 fleet through a 15-year agreement for the airframer's Flight Hour Services (FHS) maintenance, repair and overhaul programme.
The contract covers the provision of line replaceable units, spare parts, repair and logistics services.
It also includes access to a spare part pool at Heathrow airport, which is also used by other A380 operators.
BA has ordered 12 A380s which are planned for delivery from 2013 onwards.
Airbus said that the airline is its first FHS customer for the type in Europe.
The other two current A380 operators on the continent, Air France and Lufthansa, use their mutual joint venture, Spairliners, for component support.
