Airports operator BAA expects the ash-related closure of London Heathrow and Stansted earlier this month will have a £28 million ($43 million) impact on earnings for 2010.

The company gave the estimate in its first-quarter results for the London sector today.

BAA states that passenger numbers at Heathrow were up by 3% for the first three months. It cut its pre-tax loss, after exceptional items, by 38% to £196 million.
