Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation has contracted BAE Systems to manufacture test equipment for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ), which the UK company designed through a previous agreement from 2010.
This includes a trailing cone system, which BAE Systems developed for the flight test programme of the regional twinjet. The company also designed a weight and balance control system to simulate flight and loading conditions as well as an electrical load bank system, which simulates various power systems in the aircraft.
The three separate pieces of equipment will now be manufactured by BAE Systems and a number of partner firms in the UK.
Apart from the test equipment, the British aerospace company provides engineering support for various work packages on the MRJ, including the powerplant, pylon, nacelle, auxiliary power unit and fuel system.
