Bangladesh's United Airways is buying four BAe Jetstream 31 aircraft to serve the thinner routes within the country.

Three of the aircraft will be 18-seaters that will be deployed on scheduled services to smaller airports such as Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Ishurdi, Shamshernagar and Comilla, says the airline in a statement.

The fourth will be a 10-seater that it plans to use for executive services between Dhaka and Chittagong, it adds. This aircraft will also be available for charter.

United said in April that it has a fleet of nine aircraft after the addition of an Airbus A310-300 and a Boeing MD-83 at the end of 2011.
