Start-up Bangladeshi carrier NovoAir is expecting to receive its air operator's certificate (AOC) next week, and plans to start operations by end-December.

The Dhaka-based carrier is scheduled to complete flight tests on 12 December, before an AOC from the civil aviation authority of Bangladesh can be issued to it, says its marketing manager Sohail Majid.

NovoAir will initially operate domestic services from Dhaka to Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Jessore and Sylhet, and has plans to start international services a year later.

The carrier will operate two 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft, which were delivered on 30 November and 6 December respectively. Both aircraft are owned by the airline, says Majid.

Flightglobal's Ascend Online database shows that the two aircraft bear the serial numbers MSN 145546 and MSN 145573, and they were built in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
