Bangladeshi start-up carrier NovoAir started operations with the launch of its commercial domestic services on 9 January.

Its first flight took off from Dhaka for Chittagong at 10:30 local time, says an airline official.

The carrier will operate up to thrice daily services on the Dhaka-Chittagong route and twice daily services from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar, Sylhet and Jessore. It also plans to start international services in 2014.

NovoAir operates two 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft, which were delivered on 30 November 2012 and 6 December 2012 respectively. Both aircraft are owned by the airline.

Flightglobal's Ascend Online database shows that the two aircraft bear the serial numbers MSN 145546 and MSN 145573, and they were built in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
