Bangladeshi carrier Regent Airways has appointed Dr M. A. Momen as its new chief executive, replacing Imran Asif who resigned from the company on 31 August.

Dr Momen was formerly the managing director of the country’s flag carrier Biman Bangladesh and his appointment took effect on 15 September, says an airline spokesman.

Regent is planning to launch four-times weekly Dhaka-Bangkok services on 9 October, followed by Dhaka-Singapore services in early November. A launch date for the latter service has not yet been set.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Online Fleets database shows that the carrier operates two Boeing 737-700s and two Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 turboprops. It flies on five domestic and international routes out of Dhaka to destinations such as Chittagong, Sylhet and Kuala Lumpur.
