BBA Aviation has acquired seven fixed-base operations across the USA from Hawker Beechcraft's line service operations, bolstering its position as the owner of the world's largest FBO chain, which it operates under the Signature Flight Support brand.

Hawker Beechcraft will retain its factory-owned services, maintenance and customer support facilities located on the same site as the FBOs in Van Nuys, California Tampa, Florida Houston, Texas San Antonio, Texas Indianapolis, Indiana and Atlanta, Georgia.

Hawker Beechcraft's operations in Little Rock, Arkansas Chester, UK and Toluca, Mexico are not included in the $128.5m sale.

Signature operates 95 FBOs, of which more than half are in the USA. Its nearest rivals Atlantic Aviation and Landmark Aviation, operate from 68 and 33 bases respectively.

BBA chief executive Simon Pryce says: "There are excellent opportunities for performance improvement through incorporating these assets into our Signature network and the potential benefits for customers and employees are tangible and significant." The deal is expected to close in May.
