Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has posted a net profit of CNY673 million ($110 million) in the first half of 2013, an increase of 21% year on year.
Its total revenue for the six months to 30 June grew by 5.1% to CNY3.53 billion, with aeronautical revenue up by 4.3% to CNY2.02 billion and operating expenses rising by 7.2% to CNY2.34 billion.
Operating profit for the period rose by 5.8% to CNY1.15 billion.
Aircraft movements over the period increased by 1.8% to 277,000, while passenger throughput increased by 3.6% to 40.8 million. Cargo throughput increased by 5.8% to 875,000t.
In the second half year of 2013, the airport will continue to advance the strategic objective of hub airport construction, deepen co-operation through the hub-platform with airlines and airline alliances, step up efforts for marketing in the aviation market and keep expanding routes networks.
In addition, the opening of terminal 3D in the first half of 2013 relieved the airport of operational pressure.
