Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has posted a net profit of CNY1.17 billion ($189 million) in 2012, an increase of 5.3% year on year.
Its total revenue for the 12 months to 31 December grew by 5.6% to CNY6.86 billion, with aeronautical revenues up by 4.6% to CNY3.98 billion, and operating expenses rising by 8.3% to CNY4.5 billion.
This resulted in a 5.3% increase in operating profit to CNY2.18 billion.
Aircraft movements over the year increased by 4.5% to 557,000, while passenger throughput increased by 4.1% to 82 million. Cargo throughput increased by 9.7% to 1.8 million tonnes.
Looking ahead, the airport has outlined various initiatives to boost its growth prospects. These include pushing ahead with its hub construction, strengthening mid- and long-term strategic cooperation with Air China, raising its appeal to international and transit passengers to boost its international business volume, and developing the cargo business.
