Airport operator Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg has appointed Heike Fölster as chief financial officer.

The post was created after the departure of chief executive Rainer Schwarz, whose direct responsibilities included the finance department. Schwarz was dismissed in January over the delay to the opening of Berlin's flagship airport.

Fölster will be part of the senior executive team along with technical director Horst Amann and chief executive Hartmut Mehdorn.

Most recently, she was chief financial officer at the shipping and technical equipment classification specialist Germanischer Lloyd, and previously worked for Mobil Oil, Airbus and Hamburg's airport operator.
